Call to Order A motion to accept the minutes from our June 18th meeting as mailed or emailed was seconded. Motion Passed The treasurers report was given and a motion to accept was seconded. Motion Passed Old Business Charter. It looks like we have a charter. We will likely be presented “The Charter” at the national convention in Reno next month. A discussion was held on whether we can hold elections. It was decided that we could. One of the reasons is that we have a chapter number assigned by National Vietnam Veterans of America. A motion to have Life Member Robert J. Kemple be a voting member of our chapter was seconded and Motion Passed without dissent. Elections. The following names were put forward by Chairman David
for Vice President: Ronnie Vause was elected by acclamation to the office of Secretary. The following names were put forward by Chairman David
for Treasurer: A motion to have the officers hold office until April 2007 was seconded and after discussion Motion Passed. In April 2007 another election will take place for two year terms. A motion to have Directors at Large hold office until April 2008, and, at that time the term of office will be determined, was seconded and Motion Passed. A motion was made and seconded that when officers term(s) run out they are no longer on the board of directors, they must be elected again to continue on the board, Motion Passed. A motion was seconded to have President John Clark be our Voting Delegate at the national convention next month Motion Passed. A motion, seconded, Motion Passed to elect a nominating committee (must be odd number). Nominating Committee. David Estrovitz, Ralph Lowther and Mel Sanders were elected to serve on the Nominating Committee until the elections of April 2007 are completed. President John said that a motion to change the name from Vietnam Veterans of America will almost for sure come up at the national convention next month. Several points were made that VVA is a result of being the Forgotten Veterans and that we don’t want any vets, since Vietnam, to be Forgotten Veterans. The consensus was “Vietnam Veterans” must be included in the name, preferably at the beginning of the name if a name change is going to happen. The first Gulf War, Desert Storm and other Veterans should be welcome into our organization. It was also consensus that changing the ending dates of military service as required by VVA at the national level so that Veterans after Vietnam could be included into VVA should be changed to allow that. George Strutzel, Vice President Mike Gale, Terry Dunne, Bruce Bissell and Orlan Kopf will head up a task force to select a uniform befitting our chapter, to wear at functions or meetings or wherever we would wear them. August 11, 2005 is Veterans Appreciation day at the Washington County Fair. We should be represented there. We can share a booth with VFW maybe, Mike Gale will head this up. Newly elected Treasurer Robert “Jay” Kemple will put a letter together thanking the Elks for their hospitality and continuing support. The Elks have allowed us to meet in their building and have told us they will let us meet there indefinitely. Next Meeting There being no further business the meeting was adjourned. Respectfully submitted,
Ronnie Vause, Secretary EMAIL:
