Half A World Away

I ate steak and shrimp tonight
a meal fit for a king
When someone half a world away
did not eat a thing

I’ll sleep between clean sheets tonight
while half a world away
Another vet will pray to God
to ask for one more day.

There is no war our leaders say
There’s no condition red
While far away a vet will sleep
on bamboo for a bed.

No MIA’s our leaders say  they say it loud and strong
And just a half a world away ~ A vet could prove them wrong.
